This presentation was about changemakers in America all in different timelines. The first group was about changemakers in 1776-1890’s, the second group was presenting the 1900’s, and the third group was presenting the 2000’s- now. In my opinion every presentation was beautifully demonstrated and I felt like it gave the class a view into those times. Every single student had great openings and visuals for the class to know what these changemakers look like and their changes. All the presenters made sure to make their introductions very interesting and very on theme with the years that were being presented.
The first group (presenting 1776- 1890’s) had great timelines that I think were very organized and easy to understand. I learned a great amount, not only about the changemakers during those times but also I got some insights into the history during that time. The slides were very well informed and included many points about important moments throughout the changemakers timeline. Tyler's slide was smoothly explained and presented with exclamations on important parts to be heard. He didn’t have much written down other than the title of the important events that took place on the timeline. He went off of that information alone and explained in detail what happened during that time with enthusiasm. To me it lets me know that he didn’t just write the material down but he understood and remembered the events. Angelie Sagastume’s presentation was well explained, she had a lot of information on her slide and a picture of the changemaker along with the changemakers personal information which she presented with ease. She didn’t just read off the slides but she also put in her own factual words on her changemaker Harriet Tubman. Akire Green had much information on his slide, along with four pictures and drawings that depict the changemaker Susan B. Anthony. He also went off of his own dialogue and added more detail that was not seen on the slide. I really liked Oscar’s slide and the way it was presented so neatly with the facts separated into categories. Alyssa’s slide included a lot of information but it was all into separate categories and included information on specific important events that took place. The brochure of this group was organized and visually so well put together with small details that bring the brochure together.
Group two (presenting 1900’s) had nice intro slides that visually represented the 1900s period of vast growth. The Historical Overview for the years 1900-1940’s was organized into four parts; war and politics, social change, economy and government, and culture and media. The other Historical overview is about the years 1940’s-1990’s, the themes consisted of pop culture, ww2 troubles, 60’s events, and late 1990’s events. The overview actually did prepare the students perfectly into what they would be learning from this presentation. Zebadiah and Tyler were explained accurately and showed the students some of the events that took place in the 1900’s. With Elessar’s presentation on Marin Mother Teresa I truly learned something new that I hadn’t known before about her impacts and her importance. The presentation about Theodore Roosevelt gave me details about the presidency during his times that I wasn’t aware of. I respect how Cristobal did as many slides as he felt was necessary in order to convey important facts about his changemaker Theodore Roosevelt. Celeste’s presentation on Henry Ford was very important and still makes an impact in today’s world since he created cars. The slides on James Baldwin were very on theme and pointed out important points on his life and impacts on society. The slides on Baldwin even showed the cover of his books which deepened my curiosity on this changemaker. Glenda’s presentation was organized and it truly felt easy to understand the events that happened. I liked how unique the slide of Franklin D Roosevelt came out and how it was presented with good points that were made. Rashel’s slides on John Mitchell were presented in paragraphs but it let us know the impacts of this changemaker. Ayme’s slides on Martin Luther King Jr. used many pictures of him to show him making an impact. The video on Neil Armstrong was a great add on to the presentation that deepens auditory learners understanding while also making the presentation come together. Lastly, this group's brochure was very full of color and facts with a special background and American theme.
The last and final group; group three (presenting 2000’s- now) was the group I was a part of and happened to have a beautiful intro with pictures of today’s world. The setting stage slide was great at separating all the different themes of events that have taken place with little icons that represent the theme of the years 2000-2013. The second slide of setting the stage had a timeline with an important event from 2014-2026. Tyler really added a lot of information to his setting the stage slide which was impressive and very factual. The first presenter put a podcast featuring Barack Obama which talked about Obama’s personal upcoming and how he got through all the obstacles. I also think that including what the changemaker is doing now is a great thing to put into perspective. I learned so much about Cystic Fibrosis, and the changemaker, all of which I had no idea. Towards the end of the Elon Musk presentation by Jose Herrera he put a video of SpaceX making history which was interesting and an insight to one of Musk's greatest achievements. The slide on Tom Szaky was presented by me and it was an interesting changemaker for me to research about. I added pictures and illustrations of his work to make it more understandable for the class. Viviana’s slide was very organized and it helped me understand the incredible changemaker that contributed to helping during COVID-19. The brochure for group three was very easy to understand and very simple.
In conclusion, all the groups and presenters did a great job at presenting their changemakers. Everyone had plenty of information to share and they all discussed their changemaker very smoothly and professionally in a timely manner. I think the whole class can benefit from the important facts and impacts of these changemakers throughout human history.
