After watching my classmate's presentation about James Baldwin, I learned that he was much more than just a writer. Before the presentation, I had heard his name but did not know much about his life or why he was considered a changemaker. The slides explained how he used his books, essays, and speeches to speak out against racism and inequality during the Civil Rights Movement. I thought it was interesting that he believed people needed to face difficult truths if they wanted society to improve.
One thing that stood out to me from the presentation was how much courage James Baldwin had. My classmate talked about the challenges he faced growing up and how he experienced discrimination because of both his race and his personal identity. Even though many people disagreed with him, he continued to share his opinions and fight for equality. That made me realize that being a changemaker is not always about holding political office. Sometimes it is about having the courage to use your voice and stand up for what you believe is right.
Another point I remember from the presentation was that Baldwin wanted Americans to have honest conversations about race and injustice. The presentation explained that he believed ignoring problems would never solve them. I think that message is still important today because there are still many issues that people avoid talking about. Learning about his ideas made me think that real change starts when people are willing to listen to each other and understand different experiences.
I also liked learning about the impact his writing had on the country. My classmate explained that Baldwin's essays and books helped people understand the struggles that many African Americans faced. His words encouraged others to support the fight for civil rights and equality. I had never really thought about how powerful writing could be until I saw this presentation. It showed me that one person can influence thousands of others just by sharing their thoughts and experiences.

The presentation also made me think about the importance of education and learning from history. James Baldwin believed that people should understand the past so they could build a better future. I agree with this because if people do not know about past mistakes, they might repeat them. I think schools should continue teaching about people like Baldwin because they helped shape the country and inspired others to work toward justiceSomethie I learned was that Baldwin never lost hope, even when times were difficult. The presentation mentioned that he believed America could improve if people worked together and treated each other with respect. I admire that attitude because it would have been easy for him to give up. Instead, he kept speaking out and encouraging others to make a difference.
Watching this presentation also made me think about my own role in creating positive change. I may not become a famous author or activist, but I can still make good choices every day. I can treat people fairly, speak up if I see something wrong, and respect people from different backgrounds. James Baldwin's story showed me that small actions can also have an impact.
I also think that our communities and schools can continue the ideas that Baldwin believed in by encouraging open discussions and teaching acceptance. The presentation made it clear that he wanted people to come together instead of being divided. I think that is an important lesson for everyone, especially today.
I enjoyed learning about James Baldwin through my classmate's presentation. It helped me understand why he is considered a changemaker and why his work is still important. His courage, honesty, and determination inspired many people and continue to inspire new generations. This presentation taught me that one person's voice can make a difference and that creating change often starts with speaking the truth.
After hearing about his life and accomplishments, I have a greater appreciation for the role writers and activists play in society. James Baldwin's message of equality and understanding is something that people can still learn from today. His story reminded me that positive change takes time, but it is possible when people are willing to stand up for what they believe in.
